James H. Conway, MD, FAAP, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Infectious Disease at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison, Wisconsin, where he is a member of the Steering Committee for the newly formed Center for Global Health.
 
Dr. Conway is actively involved in a variety of projects helping maintain immunization coverage for the prevention of vaccine-preventable disease in children in the U.S. and abroad. He was the recipient of a four-year Merck Foundation grant for work in Kenya with the Merck Vaccine Network-Africa program (MVN-A), training mid-level immunization managers in the WHO-EPI Programme. This project has now been renewed to expand the program and will continue until 2011. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, serving in the Sections on Infectious Diseases and International Child Health, and was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin AAP where he also serves as Chair of the Committee on Immunizations and Infectious Diseases. Dr. Conway serves as the AAP representative to the Wisconsin Council on Immunization Practice, and is Chair of the University of Wisconsin Immunization Task Force. He is also a co-editor of the new CME journal, The Vaccine Quarterly.

He has received a 4-year Merck Foundation collaborative grant as a co-investigator on an immunization project in Kenya, attempting to increase vaccination rates through healthworker training and education.
