Studies have shown that the number of surgeries a surgeon performs is an important factor to achieving optimal clinical results. Endocrine surgeons who performed greater than 100 cases per year were able to attain the lowest complication rates and achieved the shorter hospital length of stays. Likewise, surgeons who preformed less than 20 endocrine procedures per year resulted in poorer surgical results.
