UW Hospital and Clinics and the American Family Children's Hospital have been designated as a Level One Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons. A broad array of medical, diagnostic and interventional skills and resources resides under the banner of Emergency Medicine.

UW Health's practitioners range from specialized surgeons and nurses to the Med Flight physicians, flight nurses and pilots who are dispatched to give the most advanced emergency care possible while transporting a patient.

Whether a patient is admitted to the Trauma and Life Support Center (TLC) or the Burn Unit, teams of professionals provide considerate, compassionate care and state-of-the-art life-saving expertise and technologies to ensure the best possible outcomes.

In the Emergency Department that opened in June 2006, technology is blended with a patient-friendly design that offers the privacy and first-rate care that are so critical to patients and families during times of dire medical need.
