The Emergency Education Center at UW Health offers a wide variety of classes to professionals seeking additional training and certification.

Advanced Burn Support is an 8-hour course for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, therapists and paramedics. The course provides guidelines in the assessment and management of the burn patient during the first 24 hours post-injury.

 

The Advanced Cardiac Life Support course prepares participants to direct a team of health care providers in a simulated cardiac arrest situation. Participants will learn and have an opportunity to practice the skills of endotracheal intubation, defibrillation, and identification and treatment of dysrhythmias. Both recognition and renewal courses are available and allow participants to obtain a ACLS card from the American Heart Association upon completion of the course.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support for the Experienced Provider (ACLS - EP)

 

The ACLS Experienced Provider Course is for seasoned ACLS providers who wish to renew their provider status. This course provides a stimulus for clinicians and scientists to identify areas in resuscitation that deal with special circumstances. More in-depth information and advanced techniques are demonstrated. Participants must have a current ACLS card prior to taking ACLS-EP.

 

 

The goal of the Pediatric Advanced Life Support Course is to provide the learner with information needed to recognize infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest, information and strategies needed to prevent cardiopulmonary arrest in infants and children, and the cognitive and psychomotor skills needed to resuscitate and stabilize infants and children in respiratory failure, shock or cardiopulmonary arrest.
