UW Health dermatologists diagnose and treat diseases of the skin, hair, nails and mucous membranes. Physicians provide evaluation of photosensitivity, ultraviolet screening tests, patch and photopatch tests for allergic skin reactions, and microscopic identification of fungus and virus diseases.
Phototherapy, including UVB and PUVA, may also be used in the management of conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, pityriasis rosea, mycosis fungoids, vitiligo and severe pruritus.
Special areas of interest include sunlight sensitivity, sunlight protection, porphyria, cell and molecular biology of blistering genodermatoses and epidemiology of dermatoses, including skin cancer.
