Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy |
|
Radiation oncologists at the University of Wisconsin Paul P. Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center routinely use Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) for the treatment of a variety of cancers. IMRT allows very precise external beam radiotherapy treatments.
This technique involves changing the size, shape and intensity of the radiation beam to conform to the size, shape, and location of the patient's tumor.
This results in a high dosage to the tumor and a lower dose to the surrounding healthy tissues. |
