There are several steps to determine whether a child is an appropriate candidate for a cochlear implant. While the process will vary based on the age and individual needs of the child, the essential evaluation process consists of:
  • Audiological evaluation, including hearing exam, speech perception test and hearing aid testing
  • Medical evaluation to include, but not limited to, physical exam and CT scan
  • Speech and language evaluation
  • Psychologic and social work visits
