Cochlear Implant Evaluation Process
The evaluation process for cochlear implants is to help ensure that candidates have a thorough understanding of the process of implanting a cochlear device and a realistic expectation of what cochlear implants can do.
The initial appointment will last approximately 2 hours and consist of a meeting with an audiologist and surgeon.
Prior to the evaluation, patients will receive a questionnaire to identify their expectations, auditory awareness and their attitudes.
Individuals will also undergo a physical examination and review of their medical history to ensure their candidacy for surgery.
Depending on the needs of the patient, additional tests may be required to evaluate hearing loss and balance.
