Registered Nurse - EMT - Basic (RN-EMT-B)

The Registered Nurse EMT (Basic) course, offered by UW Health’s Emergency Medical Services Program (EMS) in Madison, Wisconsin, recognizes the knowledge held by the RN and emphasizes the transition of emergency care from the pre-hospital setting to hospital setting.

Skills relative to pre-hospital care will be emphasized. Students will be tested to assure minimal competencies and technical skills.

After successfully completing this course, the student will be eligible to complete the National Registry EMT Basic Certification Examination.
 
Notes:

This is an intensive course. The student will be required to spend time outside of class to meet course requirements. Mandatory textbook: Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured 9th edition AAOS Jones and Bartlett Publishers. Textbook will be available for purchase on the first day of class, or you may purchase on your own.

  • Waiver for criminal background check
