Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)

This course will be taught in accordance with ENA guidelines. Objectives include identifying and caring for acutely ill and injured children. The course teaches participants to recognize the ill or injured child and identify significant yet subtle changes in the less acute child.
 
Additionally, the course teaches all aspects of pediatric emergency nursing, including, pediatric trauma or resuscitation.
 
The goal of the course is to improve the care of the pediatric patient by increasing the knowledge, skill and confidence of emergency nurses. The course: 
  • Presents a sytematic assessment model
  • Integrates the associated anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology
  • Identifies appropriate interventions 
Triage categorization and prevention strategies are included in the course content. ENPC is taught using a variety of formats, including lectures, videotapes and includes skill stations that encourage participants to integrate their psychomotor abilities into a patient situation in a risk-free setting.
 
Notes:

The Initial Course is a two-day course. Reverification will take place the second day of a two-day course. A limited number of reverification spots will be allowed in each course. To participate in the reverification day the attendee must have a current ENPC card. A textbook will not automatically be mailed for the course. However, a textbook is required.
