Rotations

The PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy resident will complete rotational experiences primarily in adult patients, with 1 required rotation in pediatric oncology patients.

Residents also complete learning objectives focused on developing core competencies in cancer biology, antineoplastic/immunology pharmacology, cancer disease state management, oncology pharmacogenetics and other areas through case presentation/discussion session with preceptors and oncology clinical faculty from the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Pharmacy.

Required Rotations

  • Orientation to PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency 
  • Inpatient Hematology 
  • Inpatient Blood & Marrow Transplant (includes Cellular Therapies)
  • Inpatient Pediatric Hematology/Oncology 
  • GI/Breast Oncology Clinic 
  • GU/Lung Clinic 
  • Lymphoma and Multiple Myeloma Clinics 
  • Melanoma/Brain/Sarcoma Clinics 
  • Pharmaceutical Research Center (i.e., Investigational Drug Service)
  • Capstone Advanced Practice Experience (selective rotation — either inpatient or ambulatory clinic focused)
  • Longitudinal Clinic Experiences (~15 weeks each in Gynecologic Oncology and Hematology/Bone Marrow Transplant clinics)
  • Longitudinal Oncology Genomics (~15 weeks)
  • Longitudinal Oncology Service Line (~1 year)
  • Longitudinal Oncology Academia and Research (~1 year) 
  • Longitudinal Oncology Pharmacy Practice Experience (~1 year clinical staffing)
  • Longitudinal Educational Experiences and Drug Class or Disease State Presentation (~1 year)
  • Longitudinal Major Research Project (~1 year)

  • Infectious Diseases for Hematology/Oncology Patients
  • Critical Care/Emergency Medicine for Hematology/Oncology patients 
  • Non-Malignant Hematology
  • Nutrition Support for Oncology Patients 
  • Oral Oncology Medication Management
  • Pharmacy Coordinator: Regional Oncology Leadership and Oncology Informatics
  • Inpatient Oncology and Palliative Care (required for external PGY2 residents)
