The following volunteer positions are available at American Family Children's Hospital.
 
Unit Volunteer (P4, P5 and PICU): Visit patients at bedside, assist nurses and unit staff on a variety of tasks.

Pediatric Specialty Clinics: Provide activities to children waiting for their appointment.

Playroom (P4, P5, and Diagnostic and Therapy Center): Provide play activities and interaction with children visiting the playrooms.

Safety Center: Assist staff with stocking and organizing. Assist customers with purchasing and education on home safety products, car seats, and bike helmets.

Tyler's Place: Assist with activities for inpatient siblings.

Hospital School: Assist teachers with tutoring school-age and teen patients in the hospital.
 
Pet Pals: The Pet Pals program brings volunteer dogs to visit pediatric patients at American Family Children’s Hospital. Pet Pals visits are designed to help children and their families minimize the pain and emotional trauma associated with hospitalization.
 
Positive Image Center: Assist an image consultant to provide a comfortable environment in the center and assist with services for patients and families.

Family Resource Center: Assist with stocking and organizing resources about medical illnesses and conditions.

Emergency Department: Provide activities to children waiting to see the doctor.

Wisconsin Ave. Gift Shop: Assist staff with stocking, inventory and greeting customers.

Art for Life: Provide art activities to children while waiting in outpatient areas.

Guest Depot: Greet patients and families and assist them with American Family Children's Hospital resources.
 
Reach Out and Read Clinic Readers: Volunteers greet patients and their families in the clinics and read age-appropriate books to children waiting for their appointments. The Reach Out and Read program has multiple clinic sites in Madison.
