UW Health Integrative Medicine's Integrative Medicine Updates provides clinicians with practical and reliable information so that they are able to offer each individual clear guidelines to improve patient health outcomes.

This integrative approach also emphasizes treatment modalities to improve a patient’s overall health and well-being that are the least invasive, least toxic, and least costly.

Issues
  • Volume 1, Number 1 (pdf): We present recent clinical research on Diabetes mellitus Type 2 (DM) with a particular focus on chromium supplementation. This integrative approach is particularly pertinent when patients present with a recent DM diagnosis.
  • Volume 1, Number 2 (pdf): Inflammation is a part of the body’s natural defense system. An excessive or constant elevation of inflammatory markers, however, can cause harm.
  • Volume 1, Number 3 (pdf): Digestion is regulated in part by the Gut Associated Lymphoid Tissue (GALT) which comprises >60% of total immune activity with 10 lymphocytes per meter of bowel. The GALT, along with the bowel microflora and mucous barrier, comprise a defense system, that if not functioning well can have a significant impact on the body’s health.
  • Volume 1, Number 4: (pdf): We explore and share clinical information on prostate and breast cancers, beginning with a list of potentially cancer-fighting foods compiled by the Stanford Health Improvement Program and the YMCA.
