Information for Nurses When a Patient Requests Integrative Medicine Services
Inpatient Healing Touch, acupuncture and massage therapy/bodywork treatments are available at UW Hospital to all patients that are interested. Both services can be helpful for many issues common to patients in the hospital, including pain, anxiety, nausea and sleep disturbances.
Inpatient treatments do require a physican's order. To request a session, the physician needs to enter an order in HealthLink.
Once an order for a session has been entered by the physician, we try our best to see that patient within the next 24 hours. However, we cannot guarantee that an acupuncturist or massage therapist will always be available. Due to limited staff availability at this time, we may not be able to honor all requests.
All inpatient providers have been screened and hired by the Integrative Medicine Services program, and have been oriented specifically to work in the inpatient setting.
Fees for Inpatient Services
- Massage Therapy and Healing Touch: $35 for 30 minute session
- Acupuncture: $70 for one treatment session
Payment at the time of the treatment is required. We accept cash, checks or Visa and MasterCard.
