UW Hospital and Clinics Ranked Among Top Five for Performance

A nationally recognized "scorecard" for measuring the quality of major teaching hospitals puts University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in the nation's top five best-performing institutions. The purpose of the annual assessment is to measure the performance of teaching hospitals in several areas known to be essential to delivering excellent care consistently across a wide variety of populations. This year, 88 academic medical centers were included in the analysis. Read more

Children's Hospital Receives Design Awards

In its first year, American Family Children's Hospital has received numerous accolades for its building and interior design. The innovative features of the hospital bring kid-friendly elements, such as a town square lobby and floors that feature a different Wisconsin-based theme, together with top-of-the-line medical facilities, including one of only five lead-lined cancer treatment rooms in the nation. UW Hospital and Clinics Gains U.S. News Rankings

University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison was ranked among the top hospitals in America, according to survey results released from U.S. News & World Report for 2008. To be considered, a hospital had to meet at least one of three requirements: membership in the Council of Teaching Hospitals, affiliation with a medical school, or availability of at least six of 13 key technologies such as robotic surgery. This year, nearly two-thirds of all hospitals failed this first test. Read more

University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics was recognized as a "Better Performer" organization in the 2008 Supply Chain Performance Excellence Collaborative by the University Healthcare Consortium (UHC). UW Hospital and Clinics is one of three academic medical centers to receive this recognition. UW Hospital and Clinics Ranked Among Top 100 IHNs

UW Hospital and Clinics ranked among the 100 most highly integrated health care networks according to Verispan, a health care data and consulting firm. The Verispan report, regarded as the nation's premier rating system, evaluates more than 580 local and regional health care systems to determine the most efficient and best performing integrated health care networks, or IHNs. The hospital ranked 46th in the nation. Read more

UW Hospital and Clinics to be Recognized for Stroke Care

UW Hospital and Clinics will receive the American Stroke Association’s "Get with the Guidelines" Silver Performance Achievement Award in February at the International Stroke Conference in New Orleans. The award recognizes that UW Hospital consistently complied, for at least one year, with the guidelines program's requirements, including aggressive use of particular medications (tPA, anti-thrombotics, cholesterol-reducing drugs, etc.) and smoking cessation.
