Free eye examinations

The UW Free Community Eye Clinic serves uninsured patients.

At UW Health, we believe that every academic health center should have strong roots in its community.
That's why we direct significant effort and resources to provide health care for this community's underserved residents.

Our mission is to serve - to transcend the barriers of finances, language and culture, and to reach out with programs that address pressing health issues. Fundamentally, we focus on providing access to health and dental care.

Our community initiatives address the primary causes of death among all age groups - cancer, heart disease, stroke, chronic diseases such as diabetes and asthma, as well as motor vehicle injury. We also invest in health promotion and disease prevention - for example, fighting risk factors such as sedentary lifestyle, poor nutrition and unsafe conditions.

UW Health in the Community

The links below lead to stories about the programs and people who advance UW Health's service mission.

Though the stories are compelling, they are a highly abridged version of UW Health activities in the community.

We salute all of our community partners, whether mentioned in these pages or not, and we renew our commitment to another year of working together to remove barriers and increase access to health and hope.
