Steven Means, JD
Steven P. Means, JD, joined UW Medical Foundation in 2013 after six years serving the Wisconsin Department of Justice in various capacities, including Executive Assistant Attorney General, Assistant Attorney General and Deputy Administrator of the DOJ's Division of Legal Services.
Before joining the DOJ in 2007, Steve spent 18 years in private practice, primarily with Michael Best & Friedrich LLP in Madison, Wisconsin. As an attorney, Steve has practiced in state and federal courts throughout the country in matters involving health care, antitrust, constitutional law, business disputes and corporate law.
As General Counsel, Steve manages the legal and compliance departments and works closely with internal and external stakeholders to address the array of regulatory requirements, contractual relationships and other legal issues confronting health care organizations.
Steve earned his bachelor's degree in political science and religion from Luther College, and his Juris Doctor, with high distinction, from the University of Iowa College of Law.
