Maureen McCauslandBefore accepting her current position as senior vice president for patient care services and chief nursing officer at UW Hospital and Clinics, Maureen McCausland, DNSc, RN, FAAN was chief nursing executive at University of Pennsylvania Health System and associate dean for nursing practice at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing.

She began her career with the Boston Department of Health and Hospitals where she held several director positions in nursing. From 1985-1988 she served as vice president for nursing, Hanna Pavilion at the University Hospitals of Cleveland; from 1988-1994 as associate vice president for nursing at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston; and from 1994-1997 as vice president for nursing at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.

McCausland is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing, was a Wharton Fellow and a Senior Fellow at the Leonard David Institute for Health Economics at the University of Pennsylvania, and received an Award of Appreciation in 2000 from the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center. She holds a doctor of science in nursing from Boston University, a MS in community health nursing from Boston College, and a BS in nursing, also from Boston College.
