Jocelyn G. DeWitt, Ph.D

Vice President, Chief Information Officer
UW Health

Jocelyn G. DeWitt, Ph.D, joined UW Health as Vice President, Chief Information Officer in April 2012.

She oversees the UW Health Information Services Department, an integration of UWMF Information Services and UWHC Information Technology Systems. The goals of her department are to reduce redundant work, create more rational support paths for customers, create greater efficiencies in delivering information services and create unified strategic plans for information technology infrastructure and applications.

Most recently, Jocelyn served as Chief Information Officer for the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers (UMHHC), which is the inpatient and ambulatory care clinical component of the University of Michigan Health System (UMHS). In that role, Jocelyn was responsible for a $110 million operating budget, a $20 million to $150 million capital budget and a staff of 650 employees. This included enterprise and departmental applications, customer device engineering and support, server and mainframe management, network infrastructure and telephony for the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers, as well as network infrastructure and server management for the medical school.

Her accomplishments include developing and successfully implementing the first information system strategic plan established at UMHHC; developing strategy and funding a $300 million, seven-year electronic health record implementation across both the ambulatory and inpatient environments; enhancing patient safety and caregiver workflow through the implementation of several enterprise-wide change management projects; and enhancing the reliability and validity of and access to clinical data through the creation of a health system information management architecture.

Jocelyn received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison; her Master of Science degree from Boston University; and her doctorate from the University of Illinois.
