Jeff Poltawsky

Jeff Poltawsky joined the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics as vice president for the American Family Children's Hospital in January 2008.Prior to joining American Family Children's Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, Poltawsky had more than 22 years experience in health care leadership, most recently serving as administrator at Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at St. Vincent Health Indianapolis Region, where he had been since 2004.
St. Vincent Health is one of the largest and most comprehensive health care systems in Indiana, with 17 Indiana hospital facilities, including the 55-bed Peyton Manning hospital, a six-bed pediatric unit at St. Vincent Carmel Hospital, and the Pediatric Specialty Practice of 50 specialists representing 14 specialties.
At St. Vincent's, Poltawsky revitalized the children's hospital through a focused strategy of clinical program development, specialist recruitment and marketing, achieving over 40 percent growth of inpatient volumes and over 70 percent growth in pediatric specialty visits in one fiscal year in a very competitive children's hospital market.
Prior to joining St. Vincent, Poltawsky served as director of community health development and advocacy at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, where he was responsible for creating, implementing and evaluating strategy to improve the health status of Georgia's children in the areas of childhood injury, illness and obesity prevention.
Prior to the merger of Scottish Rite Children's Medical Center and Egleston Children's Hospital, which formed Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Poltawsky served as the Vice President for Outpatient Services and Community Outreach at Scottish Rite Children's Medical Center, Atlanta.
Poltawsky has also been in leadership positions for leading health care systems such as Geisinger Health System in Pennsylvania and SSM-Ministry Corporation in Wisconsin, and he is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
He received his master of science degree in public health/health services management from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and completed a post–graduate administrative residency and fellowship in hospital and medical group administration at Geisinger Medical Center. A native of Illinois, he completed his bachelor of arts at Illinois Wesleyan University.
