Janice Bultema, Senior Vice President, Human Resources, joined University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in 2003.
Under her leadership, Human Resources implemented a strategic plan and established an Academy to attract, develop, engage and retain an excellent workforce. Their best practices were recognized in 2007 by Modern Healthcare and the American Society of Healthcare Human Resources Administration.
UW Hospital and Clinics was recognized on the Working Mother 100 Best Companies to Work For list for five consecutive years and, in 2010, was designated a Top 10 company on the list. The organization has also been recognized on the Working Mother Best Companies for Kids and Working Mother Best Company for Hourly Workers lists since the lists' inception. UW Hospital and Clinics has received the American Heart Association's Worksite Fitness Innovation award, and the Gold Start! Fit Friendly award for three consecutive years.
Prior to joining UW Hospital and Clinics, Janice served as a Director of Nursing, Executive Director of Transition Planning and then Director of Human Resources at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. From 1981 to 1991, Janice held a number of positions at Duke University Medical Center, including Assistant Director of Nursing.
She is a published author and frequent presenter on topics ranging from leadership to human resource management. Janice serves as a trustee and past chair on the Madison Area Technical College District Board, trustee and chair-elect of the Workforce Development Board of South Central Wisconsin and past chair of both the Health Care Workforce Alliance of South Central and Southwestern Wisconsin and University HealthSystem Consortium's Human Resource Officer Council. She is also a member of the Wisconsin Hospital Association's Council on Workforce Development.
Janice received her MSN in nursing services administration from Duke University, BSN from University of North Carolina-Greensboro and diploma from Mercy Central School of Nursing.
